The National Celiac Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating & advocating for individuals with celiac disease and non-celiac gluten sensitivities, their families, and communities throughout the country.
NCA was founded in 1993 as a small group of people supporting each other with celiac disease. As we have grown into a national organization, we haven’t forgotten our roots. Most of us at NCA have celiac disease personally or in our families. We have all experienced tough times while also growing confident and comfortable with celiac disease and the gluten-free diet.
Because of this rich history of experience coupled with a long-time partnership with the Harvard Medical School Celiac Education and Research Program, NCA’s strong foundation has been built to help individuals and their families thrive. We do this by:
- Providing education and support to our members and others through a broad range of programs;
- Maintaining mutually beneficial contacts within the medical community to help educate medical professionals about celiac disease and NCGS as well as to keep abreast of recent scientific studies;
- Disseminating current information about celiac disease and adherence to a gluten-free diet to the community;
- Engaging in other activities related to educating the public about celiac disease and NCGS and improving the quality of life of those diagnosed;
- Creating a continuously expanding network of support through individuals and groups throughout the nation;
- Through Feeding Gluten Free, addressing the chronic lack of GF options in food pantries across the nation.
